5 Shapes in The Dark

Live Recording

Programme Note

It is funny how the brain works, especially when it comes to connecting things together. As a composer with various types of synaesthesia i often find myself in a situation where i need to adapt my world perception to the new environment. These pieces are a perfect illustration of this confusing process.

To the listener: please close your eyes and experience the sound.

1: The Black Curtains
2: The Whispering Willow
3: Skeleton in the Closet
4: The coffin on Tiny Wheels
5: Storm in a Snow-Globe

There was little girl from a very poor family, and her mother sent her to buy a set of curtains. Consultant at the shop told the girl to hang the white set during night and black during the day. But while getting home the girl forgot the advice…

It was a cold autumn night, and a boy named Alex couldn’t fall asleep, all because of the old willow tree outside his window. Except… it was no longer just a tree…

In 20th century a record was made, a very unusual record made by a very unusual musician…

“little girl. Little girl! The coffin on wheels has found your street and is looking for your house…

little girl, little girl! The coffin on wheels has found your house and is looking for your room…

Little girl, little girl! The coffin on wheels has found your room and is coming for you…”

On a cold winters night when the moonlight dances on the fresh carpet of snow and all in the world is quiet, no one notices the storm in a snow globe…
